I met Barnaby from Cotswold Hound last year when I approached him for some support with our Border Terrier Dexter. Dexter needed help with reactivity and excitement around other dogs and in certain situations.
We have had one to one sessions and also joined the improvers class which has been great for our confidence and teaching Dexter to be calmer as well as improving his engagement. Over the weeks and months, Barnaby has been patient and taken time to understand Dexter’s needs and has always been on hand to offer practical and effective advice.
Today I wanted to say thanks to Barnaby after our final session and Dexter has been brilliant! He is engaging more and not reacting to the dogs working around us and walks are filled with fun not dread! He does still get excited and will react occasionally but we are now equipped to approach these situations in a calmer way.
I would highly recommend Barnaby and Cotswold Hound and if you are having challenges with your dog please seek support it does get better!

We are so grateful to Barnaby for the work he's done with our dog, Basil. As first-time dog owners, his insight and advice has been invaluable. The beginners puppy class is fantastic and so dense with resources for us and our dog, and we've gained so much from the one-to-one sessions we've had with Barnaby as well. The ongoing support via WhatsApp has been so beneficial, and Barnaby has been so generous with his time and expertise. We really appreciate how flexible he's been in his approach to best suit our dog's needs. Definitely the best investment we've made in our dog's wellbeing and our knowledge as dog owners - worth every single penny.

We have been attending classes with Barnaby for about 12 weeks, and the difference in Loki is amazing! He had become VERY nervous around other dogs, particularly bouncy ones, since he had an unpleasant experience with 2 off leash dogs, wanting to move away from them and trying to take me with him. We also needed help with loose lead walking as he pulled like a train, especially if he saw another dog when he wanted to go in the opposite direction.
We have been taking things at Loki's pace, Barnaby makes sure that all owners in the class are aware of any anxiety/issues dogs in the class may have so that we can all respect and be sensitive during class. I.e. giving space to any reactive dogs when entering or leaving the field.
Loki has come on so well that we were able to take him on holiday to a very dog friendly hotel where most people staying had at least one dog. He was relaxed in the restaurant, we had a corner table that he could lie under, even though there were other dogs around whining or barking snd even ignored a dog that decided to growl and try to pull towards him when we were going to our room; simply focusing on the door to the stairs when told "this way". His loose lead walking, whilst not perfect yet has gone from 10% to 85% and continues to improve.
Loki loves his classes and starts getting excited as soon as we pull into Crippets Lane and gets even more excited when he sees Barnaby, so we'll continue in class for the foreseeable future as he enjoys them so much. Barnaby is also always ready to help with tips and advice in class if you've had any concerns during the week.
I would highly recommend Barnaby and Cotswold Hound for any training needs, from basic training to more complex reactivity issues and anything in-between.

When the dog parents of our pup's littermate said we should contact Cotswold Hound Dog Training for help with our pup I admit I was sceptical. Dog training? Over a zoom call? Nope, I didn't believe our friends, no matter how glowing their recommendation. I couldn't have been more wrong.
Cotswold Hound Dog Training have given us back our sanity. Sue and Barnaby have given not just practical advice and ideas for us to use but they have also been a huge emotional support for us too. We were at the end of our tether with our bitey, unruly pup until we spoke to them. Yes, dog training on zoom does work. Sue and Barnaby are force free trainers and the games and tips they've given us have hugely improved our relationship with our pup and this has paid dividends when it came to making his training more effective.
Our zoom calls are always a pleasure. They explain everything in language that I (a total numpty when it comes to dog training) can understand. They have helped us unpick our behaviour problems and put them back together and now we feel we almost have the dog we want. Both Sue and Barnaby have their own approach to the things we discuss and both are able to adapt their suggestions to the way our dog works. Honestly we've had so many "lightbulb moments" during our calls it's been like Blackpool Illuminations (Yorkshire expression there!)
We are so grateful for their advice and support, their checking in with us between calls. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Over Zoom, they were amazing, I can't imagine how great they must be in the "in person"

We needed some suppprt walking our lab at short notice and Bryony and team were amazing. We’d never used a dog walker before so were a bit nervous, but Bryony was super efficient, professional and made us feel completely comfortable in her team member, Maddie taking our precious pooch out. Maddie came to meet Margot and took her for a trial walk which was very reassuring. We liked it so much we’ve kept going with 1 walk week as Margot really enjoys being walked with other dogs which she wouldn’t get the chance to otherwise. 10/10 service all round 😀

My name is Lily, I was the ‘fizzy’ Labradoodle who went to puppy training with Barnaby, it was great, I loved every bit! It was often cold & wet on most Saturday mornings in a muddy field, but I didn’t mind. I learnt to sit and wait, to come when recalled and a lot more (my mum and dad learnt a lot too, they gave me lots of treats if I did it right….) I’m working so hard not to jump up, I know I’ll get there….Thanks Barnaby. Lots of love Lily (woof).

Can’t recommend Barnaby and his team enough. We have been working with him for around 4 months as our rescue Heidi had a hard time adjusting to home life after coming here from Hungary. His patience and knowledge is very reassuring and insightful, looking forward to working with him again in 2024.
